We all have goal posts.
Or a list of things that we attach to someday.
And along with checking things off our list someday, we also attach a feeling that we'll have that accompanies the accomplishment.
When I'm in a better relationship, I will feel more sure of myself.
When I have a better job, I will feel more confident in the way I move through the world.
When I live in a new house, I'll feel like I've made it.
As my friend Mara put it, "someday is just a thought." And, waiting for it is a tragedy.
Because the truth is, even when all of those things do actually get checked off our list, the feelings won't just follow. (And no, AI didn't write this.)
You can get a new job and it'll feel great and exciting for a few quarters or maybe even a year, but that feeling that you're searching for isn't in the thing. It's in the way you choose to show up.
The best part? You can choose to do that right now.
You may have heard, the universe is not a vending machine. It's a mirror.
Test it out.
You walking around feeling like you don't have enough? That comes back at you.
You walking around thinking the car is going to fix the way people look at you? Buckle up butter cup.
You take lack into the room. You leave with more proof of it.
But the inverse is also true.
You can walk in already feeling the way you're craving. Already feeling like there is enough. Right now. Before you have that thing.
And the super cool part is that the room responds. The conversation goes somewhere unexpected. The thing you have been chasing has a way of getting closer when you stop giving it the power it never really had in the first place.
You deserve the thing. You will probably get it.
But it is not what is going to make you feel the way you want to feel.
That part is on you. And it is available right now.
Go get it.
Be Great,
Sam
