As we approach the new year, resolutions tend to take center stage, and just like every year before it, we set them with the best intentions, we make progress for a while, and then they turn into moving goalposts that either get pushed out or forgotten altogether, rarely leaving us much space to pause and actually acknowledge how far we have already come.

What if this year, instead of orienting ourselves around goals like losing ten pounds, getting a promotion, or running a marathon, which are all perfectly valid pursuits, we spent more time thinking about the type of people we want to be in the world and the way we want to show up when things feel hard, uncertain, or inconvenient.

What if we had a clear framework for making decisions when the pressure is on, a personal playbook for staying close to our values in our relationships, and a map we could return to when we need to ask ourselves whether we are moving through the world in a way that feels conscious and chosen rather than reactive and automatic.

I wonder how many of our more traditional, metric driven goals would naturally fall into place if we focused less on outcomes and more on consistently showing up in a way that reflects who we want to be, even when no one is watching and especially when it would be easier not to.

This is the exact conversation we are opening up in January inside the Arcadia Constellation, where we will be exploring core values and how they shape the way we spend our time, make decisions, and build habits that actually stick, because when we look honestly at how we are living day to day, it becomes very clear what we are truly moving toward and what we are not.

Performance coach Chris Douglas will be joining us to walk through a practical framework designed to help each of us clearly articulate the values we want our lives to be anchored to, and to show how being intentional and vocal about those values can become a steady roadmap for how we lead, work, and relate to the people around us.

Since September, nearly fifty executives have joined the Arcadia Constellation, and we are learning every day how to make this space more thoughtful, useful, and human, and as we head into a new year, we would love for you to join us in starting it with a conversation that might lead to the last New Year’s resolution you ever need to make, not about what you want to achieve, but about who you want to be.
